What is aortic stenosis?

Aortic stenosis is a common condition affecting 1 in 8 people over the age of 751. It occurs when the aortic valve narrows, reducing the blood flow through it. Being a progressive disease, it becomes worse over time. Doctors will diagnose the condition as either mild, moderate, or severe depending on the severity of the damage to the aortic valve.
